Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to list my business?

No. Listing your business is free for contractors. AdaptHome is transitioning to a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will be funded by grants, corporate sponsors, and individual donations — not by charging contractors for leads. Our goal is to connect veterans with quality contractors, and a paywall on contractors would work against that mission.

Do I need to be VA certified?

VA certification is not required, but it is highly valued and will be displayed prominently on your profile. We also recognize CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) certifications and other relevant credentials. What's most important is demonstrated experience with accessibility modifications and a commitment to serving veterans.

What regions do you serve?

Every state. The AdaptHome calculator and contractor directory work nationwide — you tell us which counties you serve during signup, and we only route leads from those counties to you. Early-adopter contractors get priority placement and show up as top picks in AI matching until we're fully saturated in your area.

How do veterans contact me?

Your profile includes a "Show Contact Info" button. When a veteran clicks it, they'll see your email and phone number. You'll receive direct inquiries from veterans planning projects in your service area. We don't act as a middleman - veterans contact you directly.

How long does the approval process take?

We typically review and approve contractor submissions within 3-5 business days. We'll email you with updates on your application status and let you know if we need any additional information.

What types of projects will I receive?

Veterans use our calculator to estimate costs for various adaptive modifications: wheelchair ramps, bathroom modifications (roll-in showers, grab bars), doorway widening, kitchen adaptations, stairlifts, smart home integration, and more. You'll be matched with projects that align with your listed specialties.
